Google Sites: How To Make A Website The Easy Way

A website is an awesome and extremely effective way to promote yourself, your product, your service, or any other thing you want — literally. In fact, it is now more the rule rather than the exception for a business or group to have a website. A presence on the internet will allow people from all over the world to Google you, and when they find your website online, they can engage you or your company. You no longer have to be confined to your specific locality anymore; with a little help from Google, a website breaks down all barriers and makes you globally competitive.

So how do you make website on Google?

First things first: sign up with Google. If you already have a Gmail account, then all you need to do is use your account details (user name and password) to log on to Google Sites at www.sites.google.com. If not, just register and you’re in.

Once you’re on the Google Sites website, click on create and you will be taken to a selection of templates that you can choose from. If the ones on the page are not to your liking, click on “Browse the gallery for more” and you’ll find other templates. Once you make your choice, give it a name (there’s a box at the lower portion) and hit “Create.”

You’ll be asked to select a theme and, optionally, to describe your website. After that Google will create your website, and you will be presented with a template that you can play around with some more. Click on “Edit page” (the pencil icon at the top of the page) to fill your site with the content you want. How you want your website to look like is entirely up to you. There’s enough freedom in Google Sites to let you be creative. This concludes the main work that answers your question of “How do you make a website on Google.”

You can use texts, photos, hyperlinks to other sites, videos, sound bytes — anything and everything that comes to mind. But don’t overdo it: a certain minimalism still works best for websites, and will make your site less cluttered and more pleasing to the eye.

Best of all, it’s free, so you can establish your online presence with virtually no cost. All you need is a computer and an internet connection — two things that most people already have.
