One of the biggest problems of exercise systems is that practically all of them eventually bring the trainee to a plateau from which it is difficult to improve further. This is caused by the human body’s amazing ability to adapt even to its own motions. Adaptation is good because it makes repeated tasks easier, but for those who want to continue improving their bodies, it is a rut that is difficult to rise out of. This P90X review from a doctor will highlight how it works and the one thing you must do to get crazy results.
This is where Power 90 Extreme — or P90X – comes in. It is a “boot camp-style” home exercise system developed by American fitness guru Tony Horton in conjunction with Beachbody CEO Carl Daikeler, Beachbody Fitness Advisor Steve Edwards, nutritionist Carrie Wyatt, Creative Director Ned Farr, and workout video director Mason Bendewald of MEGA MACE productions. P90X significantly improves physical fitness in 90 days through a rigorous segmented training program combined with a nutrition and dietary supplement plan.

Confuse Your Muscles
P90X emphasizes “muscle confusion,” a method of cross-training and periodization achieved through switching the order of exercises and incorporating new and varied movements. According to Horton, muscle confusion prevents the body from adapting to exercises over time, resulting in continual improvement without plateaus.
So what’s P90X and how does it work? It is a 90-day program that combines a variety of exercise techniques, including strength training, cardio, yoga, plyometrics, and stretching. The program itself consists of a nutrition guide, fitness plan, calendar, and a series of DVD videos featuring Horton as instructor demonstrating a variety of techniques.
The P90X program cycle lasts 13 weeks, with the participant exercising six days per week. The program has three “rotations”: classic, lean, and doubles. The participant selects from among these according to his or her personal goals. There are a total of 12 DVD workouts included with the program. Each targets different skills and muscles.
Most of the workouts are less than an hour in duration, although the abdominal workout, which is called Ab Ripper X, is performed three times per week, after six of the rotating workouts, which adds approximately 15 minutes of exercise.
A Independent P90X Review – Don’t Forget The Diet
Independent experts say that because of its emphasis on “muscle confusion,” P90X does work well as long as it is done consistently and is paired with proper diet. The P90X program itself has a nutritional plan that is composed of three phases. The first 30 days emphasizes higher protein and lower carbohydrates to teach you the relationship between carbohydrates and energy. You then move to the second phase, which increases the percentages of carbohydrates. The third phase is a higher carbohydrate “athlete’s” diet. You then will progress through the phases of the diet that coincide with each program change. Each program lasts thirty days.
The Final Word
Those who have undergone the program marvel at their new-found capacity to endure the rigors of this exercise program. Because “muscle confusion” is emphasized, there is no plateau in the buildup towards a healthier body. There are no repetitions of exercises and movements, and so the body cannot adapt to them. All in all, the P90X program provides one of the best exercise and diet systems that works well for virtually all who try it. I know because this is the program that allowed me to reclaim my health and lose weight after neglecting my during 4 year of dental school. I strongly recommend after reading this “P90X review”, that you join the club.
